How do I add Skype? | |||||
Skype supports both the UDP and TCP protocols. By default it uses UDP, but it switches to TCP if UDP is
blocked. If you have a SOCKS5 proxy, create a redirect rule for Skype.exe, specify both the UDP and TCP
transports. If you have a TCP-only proxy such as HTTPS, SOCKS4, or SSH, 1. Create a block rule for Skype.exe, specify the UDP transport. 2. Create a redirect rule for Skype.exe, specify the TCP transport. |

Does the order of rules matter?
Yes. Rules are examined in ascending order (from top to bottom). If a rule matches, then all following rules are ignored.

Examine the error log (click on the ProxyCap system bar icon, choose “Status and Logs”, select the Error Log tab). If it’s empty, try our Online Proxy Checker with the tunneled protocol set to an appropriate value in order to determine the exact reason for the failure.

Safari is not being tunneled through proxy.
Safari starting from v5.1 uses a helper program called WebProcess to access web sites. WebProcess is independent from
Safari and so is not tunneled when Safari is specified in the rule. Solution: Add a redirect rule for WebProcess. WebProcess
is located in one of the following folders:

A program is not being tunneled through proxy.
Usually, this problem is caused by incorrect or incomplete information specified in the redirect rule. To troubleshoot this
problem, try the following: 1. Create a “catch all” (for all programs) redirect rule. 2. Open the Connections status screen (click on the ProxyCap system bar icon, choose “Status and Logs”, select the Connections tab). Tick “Always on top” on the right bottom of the panel. 3. Run the program that needs to be tunneled, and watch the status. |

Is SSH tunneling with ProxyCap secure?
With SSH, ProxyCap uses state of the art encryption techniques for all data transmitted between your computer and the SSH server. The program supports SSH public key authentication, the most secure method, and allows you to verify the identity of the SSH server (to use this, you must enable host key verification and import the server's public key).

Does ProxyCap support UDP?
ProxyCap can redirect UDP through a SOCKS5 proxy or a chain of SOCKS5 proxies. The required condition is that UDP relay must be enabled on the proxy server. Also, if you want to run streaming software or online games from behind SOCKS you need to ensure that the connection to the proxy is fast enough.

ProxyCap is disabled after installation, error when trying to enable it.
ProxyCap installs a kernel extension (KEXT) used to intercept network connections. On macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, the system
by default will block the KEXT from loading. To override this default behaviour, do the following: 1. On macOS 11 Big Sur and later, you must first disable System Integrity Protection (SIP). To do this, boot into recovery mode (Intel Macs: hold down ⌘+R while starting up your computer; Apple Silicon Macs: read here). After you're in, go to Utilities > Terminal in the menu bar. In the terminal, type in csrutil disable to disable SIP. 2. On macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, you must manually allow this system software in macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General (Apple Silicon Macs: If you see this text instead of the allow option then you first need to modify Security Policy for macOS). Note that the allow option in macOS Preferences is displayed only for a limited time after ProxyCap installation and after OS start. After allowing the KEXT, restart macOS. |
